Welcome James Mattiace, International Schools
Account Manager

We are excited to announce that James Mattiace has joined our team to assist international PK-12 schools with their language assessment and professional learning needs. With extensive experience as an administrator and teacher at international schools, James brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our company.

James began his career over 25 years ago and has since served as a teacher and administrator at public and private schools around the world while also serving in advocacy roles for a variety of organizations. He has worked with Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge/IGSCE, ACTFL, and Central European Framework Reference (CEFR) programs. One of James’ main focuses over the course of his career has been reforming assessment in education. This passion has taken him around the world with leadership roles at schools in Morocco, Panama, Taiwan, and the United States.

In his new role at Avant Assessment James will be responsible for relationships with International Schools. James joins Avant with a shared vision in transforming the language learning field to be proficiency-based to accelerate learning outcomes.

Fittingly, James loves to travel and explore new parts of the world. His travels have taken him to nearly every continent and yet his bucket list of places to visit continues to grow. James enjoys live music, working with spreadsheets, and the Oxford comma. James is a native New Yorker but over the years has picked up Spanish, French, and Arabic (Darija) as well as some ASL.

We are confident that James will be a valuable asset to our team and look forward to the positive impact he will have on both our organization and the clients that we partner with. Please join us in welcoming James! If you have any questions or would like to get in touch please don’t hesitate to contact James.
