TEKS Correlation Matrices for Language Proficiency
Avant can help simplify your Credit-by-Exam (CBE) process with our TEKS-aligned language proficiency matrices. We’ve created four dedicated TEKS correlation matrices, designed to help you accurately assess student proficiency and award the appropriate LOTE credits—from TEKS I to V. Our adaptable approach ensures every student has a pathway to success.
Explore the TEKS Matrices
Avant has developed four comprehensive matrices to align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards for Languages Other Than English (LOTE). Each matrix ensures students are assessed accurately across multiple levels in one test.
Download each TEKS Correlation Matrix below to understand how Avant STAMP aligns to TEKS standards for student success.
- Non-Logographic Languages (PDF)
Available through STAMP 4S or STAMP WS - Logographic Languages (PDF)
Available through STAMP 4S or STAMP WS - American Sign Language (PDF)
Available through STAMP for ASL - Latin (PDF)
Available through STAMP for Latin
Each matrix provides a clear pathway for students to earn credits based on their current proficiency level, all within a single adaptive test.
Proficiency Range Requirements
Figure 1 below shows the proficiency range required for levels I-V of non-logographic languages across the four skills of Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking:
Avant’s “Magic Spreadsheet”
We’ve also built an accompanying software implementation in Excel that automatically calculates whether students have qualified for CBE credit, making it very easy to use scores on Avant’s assessments to award CBE credit in Texas.
Avant’s Excel implementation of our matrices will automatically display which TEKS CBE level(s) each student qualifies for given their STAMP 4S, STAMP WS, STAMP for ASL, or STAMP for Latin scores.
Our solution is fully aligned with the TEKS for LOTEs regulations and is in operational use across several districts in Texas.
