“We currently test grades 7-12. Next school year, we will start testing incoming 6th graders that have completed 5th grade dual-language programs for LOTE Level 1 Credit. We are currently testing for students to earn credit through exams for acceleration. We plan to notify students of opportunities for Global Seal of Biliteracy this coming year. In the future, our hope is to also use Avant to test proficiency levels of students at various levels and various campuses to provide next steps and feedback on our curriculum. This was a definite need in our diverse community. Avant gives us the opportunity to honor the native languages of students in our community. It also allows students that speak Spanish, French, or Chinese an opportunity to move into advanced courses and potentially earn college-level credit.”
