PRODUCT GUIDES FOR AVANT’S REMOTE PROCTORED TESTING

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are a few of the most common questions regarding our remote proctoring solution.
Please reach out to us regarding any other questions you may have.

The Proctortrack Proctoring solution utilizes the power of video communication to allow test takers to take a test normally completed in a classroom setting at home, with an online human proctor.

The proctor confirms the test taker’s identity and actively monitors the test with the support of software that alerts her/him of a potential security problem. The proctor can then interact with the test taker to assure that no cheating is occurring and confirm that the test is secure and not compromised.

The proctored Avant Test session lasts up to 3 hours (180 minutes).

Please contact your Testing Coordinator for assistance.

Yes! Avant has ensured that the Proctortrack Proctoring solution meets our most rigorous standards for security to maintain the integrity of our language assessments.

No, Proctortrack does not support Chromebooks.

We do not recommend tablets or iPads for testing and remote proctoring at the same time.

While it is possible to take an avant assessment on an iPad, if the test taker is being remotely proctored on the same device, the Avant Assessment application would be unable to access the microphone in order to record for the speaking section.

We strongly recommend using USB style headphones that completely cover the ears, blocking out much of the surrounding sound, with built-in microphones. Smaller earbuds or foam headsets that sit on top of the ear will not produce the best results in terms of sound quality.

Please see our Headset Guide for further information.

You can test in any of the languages listed in our STAMP 4SSTAMP WSSHLAPT and PLACE Products.

All of Avant’s tests include a Writing section in which learners will need to provide typed writing samples. The method for inputting the language sample may differ, depending on the target language for the test.

Please see our Writing Guide for language-specific directions.

No, a handwritten Writing section option is not available for Avant Test proctored with Proctortrack.

Reading and Listening items are computer-scored and computer-adaptive (meaning that questions are selected based on previous responses, becoming easier or more difficult as needed to determine proficiency level).

Writing and Speaking items are scored by Avant’s trained raters who use a Scoring Rubric (STAMP 4S, STAMP WSSHLAPTPLACE) that lists the criteria for meeting Benchmark Levels.

Test results are delivered to your school’s test administrator after test completion. Test takers should contact their school’s testing administrator to receive test results.
