LEARN HOW EASY IT IS TO TAKE OUR LIVE, REMOTE-PROCTORED LANGUAGE ASSESSMENTS

Receive a Registration Link
The process begins by receiving an email from your Testing Coordinator OR from making a purchase on your institution’s storefront on the Avant Assessment online store (see your institution for the correct link to the storefront). The email will have a special URL that you will click on to go to the Avant Test Registration Page. This email also includes links to the critical User Guides on our website (see the Remote Proctoring section).
Complete a Technology Check
Take a Sample Test for the language you are testing to confirm the following:
You can record and playback your speaking response
You can type your writing response in the language you are testing. Refer to our Writing Input Guide to see which languages require special keyboards
Your equipment is configured properly and all technology preparation steps are completed before registering for a remote proctored test
Refer to the Technology Guide for Remote Proctoring with Avant to troubleshoot any issues and make sure your system is properly configured.
IMPORTANT: Taking a Sample Test helps ensure your system is capable of working with Avant Assessment tests. It is important to note that although Chromebooks generally work with Avant tests and that they will work during a Sample Test, they will not work during a live test inside the Proctortrack system.
Register for the Avant Test
After completing a Technology Check, click on the Registration link in the email you received from your Testing Coordinator OR your institution’s storefront on the Avant Assessment online store.
You will be taken to the Registration Page that will allow you to register for your assessment.
Once you complete this step, you will receive an automated email from noreply@avantassessment.com that outlines the step-by-step process to schedule a test time and take your specific Avant test within the Proctortrack system. If you did not receive an automated email from noreply@avantassessment.com, check your Spam or Junk email folder.

Step 1: Click on the link in the email to begin the process: http://app.avantassessment.com/test

Validate ID & Test with Proctortrack
You will need your cellphone and computer to validate your ID and test with Proctortrack.
Step 1: On your cell phone, download the Proctortrack App
Once your testing session has been confirmed and while waiting to take your test, you should prepare for the testing session. The first step is downloading the Proctortrack App (found in the App Store and Google Play Store by searching “Proctortrack”) that will be used for scanning your testing area right before your testing session. It will also be used as a second camera during your proctored Avant test.
Step 2: On your computer, click on the link in the email: http://app.avantassessment.com/test and access the Proctortrack system
When it is nearly time for your test to begin, click on the link in the email to begin the process. This will bring you to the login page once again. Remember, this is the same page that you will come to EVERY time you enter the system throughout the scheduling and testing process.
Once you enter the email and password on the login page, you will enter the Proctortrack system where you will see the Proctortrack dashboard and your specific assessment.
Step 3: On your computer, begin the verification and technology check process
Click on the “Confirmed” button to begin the verification and technology check process.
The verification process begins with downloading Proctortrack app on your computer and a complete system check of your computer to assure that all necessary technology is working properly. The Proctortrack system will prompt you every step of the way to ensure you don’t miss a step. All other applications will be forced to quit before moving into the test.
Step 4: On your cell phone, open the Proctortrack application and scan a QR code on you computer to start the Validation process and a room scan
The validation process will walk you through a technology check and the test taker verification phase. A face scan and ID scan will both be required.
The next step is to complete a room scan. The Proctortrack mobile application will walk you through this room scan process.
IMPORTANT: The Proctortrack mobile application may miss a room scan process. Please contact your proctor via the chat window on your computer for assistance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are a few of the most common questions regarding our remote proctoring solution.
Please reach out to us regarding any other questions you may have.
What is the Proctortrack proctoring solution?
The Proctortrack Proctoring solution utilizes the power of video communication to allow test takers to take a test normally completed in a classroom setting at home, with an online human proctor.
The proctor confirms the test taker’s identity and actively monitors the test with the support of software that alerts her/him of a potential security problem. The proctor can then interact with the test taker to assure that no cheating is occurring and confirm that the test is secure and not compromised.
What is the length of the Proctortrack session?
The proctored Avant Test session lasts up to 3 hours (180 minutes).
What should I do if I need special accommodations?
Please contact your Testing Coordinator for assistance.
Is Proctortrack secure?
Yes! Avant has ensured that the Proctortrack Proctoring solution meets our most rigorous standards for security to maintain the integrity of our language assessments.
Do I have to download anything?
You need to download Proctortrack application on your computer and Proctortrack mobile app for your iPhone or Android phone to take Avant test with Proctortrack.

Will this work on the Chrome platform?
No, Proctortrack does not support Chromebooks.
Can a test taker use a tablet or iPad?
We do not recommend tablets or iPads for testing and remote proctoring at the same time.
While it is possible to take an avant assessment on an iPad, if the test taker is being remotely proctored on the same device, the Avant Assessment application would be unable to access the microphone in order to record for the speaking section.
What are the headphone requirements?
We strongly recommend using USB style headphones that completely cover the ears, blocking out much of the surrounding sound, with built-in microphones. Smaller earbuds or foam headsets that sit on top of the ear will not produce the best results in terms of sound quality.
Please see our Headset Guide for further information.
What languages are available?
How are writing samples submitted for languages with accents and special characters?
All of Avant’s tests include a Writing section in which learners will need to provide typed writing samples. The method for inputting the language sample may differ, depending on the target language for the test.
Please see our Writing Guide for language-specific directions.
Is there a handwritten writing section option available for Avant Test proctored with Proctortrack?
No, a handwritten Writing section option is not available for Avant Test proctored with Proctortrack.
What should I do if I get disconnected?
Step 1. Follow the link in the email to begin the process
Step 2. Enter your Test Code and Assigned Password exactly as listed in the email
Step 3. Enter the Proctortrack system where you will then be able access the test you are taking with Avant
Step 4. Click Continue to resume a test. The test should resume at the point where you left off

When will I receive Avant Test results?
Reading and Listening items are computer-scored and computer-adaptive (meaning that questions are selected based on previous responses, becoming easier or more difficult as needed to determine proficiency level).
Writing and Speaking items are scored by Avant’s trained raters who use a Scoring Rubric (STAMP 4S, STAMP WS, SHL, APT, PLACE) that lists the criteria for meeting Benchmark Levels.
Test results are delivered to your school’s test administrator after test completion. Test takers should contact their school’s testing administrator to receive test results.
