Features

Students begin with a self-assessment based on CanDo statements. Based on their score students are given four Speaking and four Writing prompts with three prompts delivered at the self-assessed level and one prompt delivered at a level above the self-assessed level. Responses are scored by trained and certified raters who are members of the language community. STAMP WS provides the same detailed reporting of levels based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines as Avant’s other assessments.

About Avant STAMP WS

in Writing and Speaking

Avant created the STAMP WS language proficiency test to meet the growing need for heritage language communities to have rigorous, professionally scored, and affordable assessments. STAMP WS measures the speaking and writing proficiency  levels based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Programs use Avant STAMP WS in similar ways to Avant STAMP: to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy, award Competency-Based Credits, and to analyze testing data to improve curricula and introduce appropriate professional development to improve proficiency outcomes.

Year after year, Avant has regularly released new STAMP WS language proficiency tests and continues to do so. We are seeking language community partners that can work with us to add more languages.
