CPS World Languages

Based on use and comparison of the allowable proficiency tests that are accessible with local administration, Avant and LTI, CPS World Languages asserts that Avant provides a superior test product for our students and teachers in the following areas:

1. Technical features: Avant allows Clever Rostering and Reporting, LTI is manually entered and retrieved.

2. Accuracy: Teacher feedback indicated that the proficiency outcomes on the STAMP test were more consistently in alignment with student proficiency on formative assessments. LTI results varied more widely, sometimes showing a proficiency much higher or lower than what other assessments have shown.

3. Support: Avant is responsive to support requests from administrators and proctors both via email and telephone. For LTI, timely support is only accessible by phone by the administrator. This creates situations where proctors are not able to get support with a test they are currently using with a group of students and rescheduling the test.

4. Equity: Avant provides versions of the Spanish and Arabic tests that students can use to demonstrate their proficiency regardless of their proficiency in English, as well as versions that are developmentally appropriate for elementary school students. LTI offers one version of the test for every grade level which is only accessible to students with proficiency in English.
