Leaders in language learning align to provide students language proficiency credentials
Cherry Hill, NJ – The American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) and Avant Assessment are pleased to jointly announce a strategic alliance. AATG is a professional association that promotes, develops, and advances the teaching of German worldwide and Avant Assessment is a leader in language proficiency assessment and professional learning training.
“AATG is pleased to partner with AVANT to offer more ways to promote excellence in German throughout the United States,” said Michael Shaughnessy, Executive Director of the AATG. “The ability to increase access to proficiency testing means that more German students will have access to scholarships, college credit, and teachers will be recognized for the great work they are doing in the classroom. Students will also benefit from a clear path from high school to university-level enrollment in German.”
The strategic alliance will provide benefits for students and teachers alike. All members of the AATG and their students will have expanded access to Avant’s STAMP™ (STAndards-based Measurement of Proficiency) assessments in any language through discounted pricing. Teachers who deliver the National German Exam to their students will receive special discounts on STAMP. These programs will give students greater access to qualify for their state Seal of Biliteracy and provide the opportunity for both teachers and students to qualify for the Global Seal of Biliteracy. Teachers will also benefit from discounted pricing on Avant’s ADVANCE proficiency standards training tool.
AATG and Avant share the mission of improving the teaching and learning of German and raising the profile of language learning for all students. Effective standards-based proficiency assessment can incentivize learners by providing access to Seals of Biliteracy and drive improved K12-Higher Ed articulation, initiatives that are important to the retention of students in German classes. Furthermore, Professional Learning programs that improve assessment literacy and the operational knowledge of the proficiency standards will improve teaching and learning in both K-12 and higher ed.
“The AATG is a leader in developing and supporting outstanding programs in German in both K-12 and Higher Education. AATG is firmly committed to improving articulation between K-12 and higher ed programs and improving learning outcomes at all levels. I am impressed with the commitment of the AATG leadership to give both teachers and students the opportunity to earn a seal of biliteracy credential. This partnership is an alignment in both values and vision,” said David Bong the Co-Founder and CEO of Avant Assessment.
